Toe Nail Art and Sam The Cat

As the last post mentioned I'm going to a Ladies Night on Saturday, and my shoes are sling back peep toes so of course my nails need to look beautiful =)

To make the nail art I used two 2 way nail art polishes in black and silver glitter, my thin nail art brush with Barry M's 'Raspberry' and 3 pink rhinestones on each big toe. And each nail ended up similar but not exact, but seen as though they're my toes I don't think people will be able to tell!
I have used the same base as my fingers; Essence Jelly Baby 'Cotton Candy' and ChG 'White Cap'. Then I used Rimmel's Nail Tip Whitener. You can see this under the nail art, I painted a slanted tip going from the left corner to the right on the left foot and right down to left on the left foot.

The smaller toes are not as 'perfect' as the big toes just because they have small area to work with.

So here's both big toes and the main difference is where the rhinestones are placed because the black brush stroke is the opposite way round.
I started with the black strokes 1st. Make sure you base is completely dry (I didn't and dragged the white with the brush and had to start all over again!) I started by following the bottom line of the white tip and swept the brush from the bottom corner up to the centre of my nail and then did the same from the other side. I then added another brush stroke in the centre and curved it slightly. Then the mistake line in the top corner. Next I highlighted the black lines with my accent colour which I used Barry M's 'Raspberry' and then highlighted those lines with the glitter. I added some pinky/red dots in the gaps and then went a bit mad and added the 3 rhinestones. I use a tiny drop of nail glue to stick these on and then I seal it all in with a coat of SV.
For the other toes, well I kinda made them up, again starting with the black then onto the pinky/red and finally the glitter.

Alot of information but I hope it makes sense, hopefully you could give it ago.

Onto my helper, Sam (1 of 3 cats of the house) He likes to wander around when I'm painting my nails hence the odd white cat hair in the pics! He was actually a great background for my pics (OK yes I was tickling with my toes when I discovered this!)

Nails done so It's off to sleep for Sam =)

Nail Art Practice

Well this weekend I'm going to a Ladies Night and work the next morning, so I thought I would try some nail art that would go with my dress and that would be suitable for work the next morning also. So I thought I would have a little practice in preparation.
I started out with 2 coats of Essence Jelly Baby 'Cotton Candy' and then a coat of ChG White Cap to add a little sparkle.

It shines nicely in what limited sunshine we've been getting!

OK on to the nail art. I started out with just the accent finger at 1st. Unfortunately the 2 way nail art polishes don't have names or numbers =( So I used a Royal Blue crème to draw two sweeping lines, one from the top right to the bottom left and the second shorter line from the centre to 2/3 down the left hand side. I filled in between the two lines with dark blue glitter.

After that I decided to do the rest of my fingers with a different design, I used the same Royal Blue and drew a slanted line to cover the tip of the nail starting really thin at the right and slanting down to the left by about 2-3 mm. Then I mirrored this line leaving a 1-2 mm gap. Between these lines I filled in with the dark blue glitter.

As you can see, I added another couple of lines in pale blue (shimmer) added 1 line between the top blue and glitter lines and then a line at the bottom of the design, all the time following the sweeping line.

For the real thing I will be using black and pinky red with a little glitter to match my dress =)
Hope you like =)

Nail Pods Review

I just thought I'd do a quick review of these nail soakers. I bought them mainly to remove glitter nail polish, because we all know what a pain that is! But they are also great for removing tips, acrylic and gel. The pics show me getting the last mani off (Some Like It Hot! and Edward) turns out Edward is quite stubborn!
It was quite easy to get these on, I just filled the little pods up with acetone and put them on each finger.

This is the tub they come in, it lists all the different nail treatments you can put in them e.g. acetone, nail whitener and nourishing oil.

I sat with them on for about 5 mins and as you can see from the middle finger, the polish just dissolves into the acetone and is left in the pod. I have to say though that although I do rate these pods when you take them off your fingers you do end up with a line around where the rubber stops the liquid coming out. They don't hurt though which is always a plus. Using acetone in these pods also leaves your finger tips really dry and it leaves a white residue on the skin, so make sure if you use them with acetone to wash your hands and liberally apply cuticle oil and hand cream!

I bought these nail soakers from eBay for about £7.50, so not bad I don't think, they certainly made light work of Edward =)

Some Like It Hot! and Edward =)

What a lovely combination Edward (Essence) and Some Like It Hot! (Leighton Denny)

So I started with 2 coats of Some Like It Hot! and added just 1 coat of Edward which was just enough sparkle for this mani. I did have it glossy for a couple of days with SV as the top coat, but I got a little bored (essay writing) and decided to try it out matte.

I just added a coat of Rimmel's Matte topcoat to change the look, and the glitter still sparkled through.

Ah so onto a free gift I received from the Born Pretty Store, whom I follow on facebook ( It was the extremely popular Hello Kitty Fauxnad Plate =) I used Konad White polish to do the stamping on my thumbs.

I went over my thumbs with another coat of Rimmel's Matte Topcoat just to seal in the stamping. Hope you like =)

Nail Art Update

Once my nail art pens arrived, I couldn't resist a little play in a mini break between essay writing. So I added to my sliver and black crackle mani. I decided to jazz it up with some simple black polka dots.

And a top coat of SV. Hope you like =)

Nail Art Crazy

Its been a while but I have finally completed all 6 assignments =) so I finally have some time to catch up with the blog. So whilst struggling through an annoyingly long essay, the post man rang the doorbell and presented me with a lovely box of two way nail art pens. All 80 of them =) An absolute bargain from eBay.

So after I got them all out of the box this is what I found.

I can't actually fit them all in one box so I took over the lid too.

I got them out to try and see all the colours, so there's peaches, browns and bronzes, silvers and greys, yellows and golds, pinks to reds to purples, the greens and blues. There's a mixture of crèmes, shimmers and glitters.
So time to play with these =)

Essence Cracking

This is the 1st mani I have done whilst sitting writing the blog. I've seen alot of crackle manis on other blogs today so I thought I would join in. I haven't done a crackle mani for a while so I thought I would try out my new Essence Cracking Base and Top Coat. These are some of the haul I bought in Germany, and I felt a bit daft that I fell for the *base coat* seen as you can use any colour underneath, however, painting this base coat on I am so happy!

This is called Sparkling Silver and boy does it sparkle!
Super metallic, it is made up of tiny weeny little silver glitter.

Onto the crackle Crack me! Black. This was just as I put it on.

And this is once it finished cracking, me likes =)
This is my right hand, just thought it was funny how they ended up cracking so different. I've added it to my thumbs aswell. Once that's dry I will add my faithful SV.

Hope you like =)

Flower Pedi

This was an extremely quick pedi! I started off with two coats of ChG Secret Peri-winkle. I then added a coat of the nameless blue glitter (Omg it smelled so bad, really strong) so kinda wish I hadn't put that on =(
Then I added a scattering of NYX girl holographic flowers, which I think are really cute =)

Then a topping of SV to make it shiny =)

I Want To Be A-Lone Star Sparkles

May is here already! I have so many deadline this month, 2 assignments have been handed but there's still 4 to go =(

Having an hours break to do another manicure and to update the blogett (I'll do some more work soon Mum!)

Anyhu on to the nails. So this is the 1st mani of May, again using new colours. This was a bargain from the local beauty salon who were having a little sale. I started off with two coats of OPIs I Want To Be A-Lone Star, which went on really well with a touch of silvery shimmer. I rushed it a little bit though so I smudged =(

Oh well... just cover it in glitter =) I used ChG Snow Globe and then couldn't resist adding some NYX Girl holographic flowers.
WARNING: Snow Globe is a top coat devourer! This is after 2 coats of SV and a coat of Rimmels' Matte!

Hope you like =)
